here is finally The Day, that is so expected since my arrival in Canada, the beginning of the hockey season. I joined a team in 4 ice Brossard in a women C2 league named the Extreme Style! The level is good, and everyone enjoys playing… I think I have never seen so many girls in an ice rink!
We didn’t win that first game, but got back from afar. For girls who do not know each others, I think we did well! I can’t wait for the next game… in 15 days because next sunday is the half-marathon.
Marek is eager to begin his season in B league… follow.

The Market!
A few steps away from home is the Maisonneuve Market, a place where you can find fresh products. The Market size has nothing to do with Jean-Talon Market or Atwater market, but, you can find everything: fruits, vegetables, bakery (Ok, it,s Première Moisson!), Cheeses, meats, flowers, canned … Prices for cheese, for here, are not that bad, The Camember is still $ 8 but we can find pieces of Swiss cheese, Emmentaler for $ 4. Fruits and vegetables look really beautiful and not more expensive than the greengrocer on the corner with almost as much variety.
It’s worth it for small shopping, but it is on the turn-off quickly.
The Park!
A large green space in the center of the island. We had already done a tour some time ago but it is so nice. FYI, the park is located near the Olympic stadium between Pie-IX and Viau. There is a bike path and a walking trail, ideal for all kinds of activities. We enjoyed the good time to throw some balls baseball, so relaxing!

Tonight when I went to join Marek at his hockey game we meet someone… I think some (girls) would have been euphoric few years ago… I’ll let you guess who it is!

One of Marek best wishes after the fact of coming here, seing an habs game, playing hockey in canada… was to celebrate his birthday with its best friends !
So, I decided to organise that for him, few days before the D day to remove the doubts.. which it’s not so easy !
After spamming his friends and spending the day in the kitchen we finally celebrated it ! SURPRISE !

What is it? It is simply a softer version of ice hockey for girls that I discovered yesterday evening. The player’s equipment is identical to ice hockey, but the stick, the puck and the rules are somewhat different.

The ringuette shaft and ring
- The stick has no blade, it is simply a hockey shaft to which is added a plastic tip.
- The puck is rather a plastic ring
- The rules … There are quite a few! lol

A ringuette player
The goal of the game is to score in the opponent’s net in batting through the ring. The game is slower than ice hockey, but more technical as to move the blue lines you must make a pass to a teammate. Also, in offensive / defensive areas which are between the red line and behind the goal there can be only three players from each team. The other players are waiting wisely so that the ring area to play.
The handling of the ring is quite tricky, especially when receive the pass … we must target.
The discovery was interesting but I prefer to play ice hockey as it is still faster and physically. If the opportunity presents itself I would go back definitely!
