Our personal items delivery

14 May 2010

That’s it, after two months of waiting it is the big day. Our personal will be delivered, but will they be all here? Without breaking? Given the ton of paper the movers put in the boxes, I doubt it.

At the scheduled time, the removal company arrived and the boxes parade started. We had to pay a premium because we are not on the ground floor but the Dublin removal company had been warned before.

We signed some papers and started unpacking. All the boxes are there anyway.

After unpacking during the whole day we are satisfied with the service since nothing is broken and nothing is missing! I recommend!

The release of our personal belonging

13 May 2010

After a few phone call to the removal agency, we have the confirmation that our contenair has arrived in Montreal. We must now go through customs in order to get them out of the warehouse. The agency, concerned with the transit of our belongings to our cabin, book us an appointment to Montreal Customs.

The customs office is located in downtown Montreal, in one of the many corners that we have not yet explored. With the form of our personal effects and the B4A, we stamped upon our arrival at the airport, as well as document the contenair, previously faxed from the agency delivery, we met an officer. It was very fast and we got the sesame that will allow our belongings to leave the warehouse.

We received few minutes later a call from delivery personnel to confirm their passage tomorrow morning.

Oh my bo-o-o-o-at

7 May 2010

Since the removal company packed our items we had not heard of them, but we were not worry as  the delay is 6 to 8 weeks.

After contacting them, we learnt that the contenair was expected on the 6th in Toronto, and, an officer on site would send it to Montreal.

After a call to the Toronto agent, we are reassured to learn that the contenair has arrived at its destination, and that delivery should take place next week.

We will finally be complete.

The travel

25 Apr 2010

Whether it was laborious, after a week of waiting due to the volcano Eyjafjöll, the story of young baker trip.
My god that BMI are crap (if I may say so).

Firstly, I assure you, that, if we have not called BMI customer service 6 times, then no one has ever called, we called them simply to confirm the cat on the flight, so we called and called for each time the same answer: YES, it’s okay, your cat is confirmed.

Finally, all to tell you that when we arrived at Dublin Airport, the BMI agent said, “no, your cat is not confirmed, but you’re lucky, there is no death or humans rests on the flight so you’ll be able to travel with your cat.

In short, aftercheck-in  the baggage ensued interminable minutes waiting for the person responsible for animals to come back to Ginger for the plane, he did not come, and we had to go to the security due to time by leaving the cat to BMI agent.

BMI cabin crew gave me the ticket from London to Montreal, but Celia’s one will be issued in London alone, and, no worry the cat will be in transit to Montreal.

Once in London, we could not pass the connecting flights doors as Celia, without tickets, is not allowed.
We walked from the terminal 1 to 3 (15 minutes walk), to arrive at Air Canada counter. The agent asked me where is the cat? I told him, well, he is with you in transit, she said no, you must collect it with BMI (thing BMI agent forgot to tell us). An Air Canada agent spent close to 10 phone calls to find Ginger (worst case is that he can be transferred to quarantine). In the end, we had to go back to Terminal 1 and get the cat back to Terminal 3 to register him with Air Canada, (much more professional than BMI). He must come out of his cage to go to the scanner, and, put him back, obviously not so easy as Ginger is a coward.

Damn, we finally well traveled. We arrived in Montreal. Immigration has not lasted more than 30 minutes, then check out the chat with immigration as well.
